ABOUT

The New Gallery Press (TNGP) is an artist run printing press and artist multiple shop attached to The New Gallery (TNG) located in the Chinatown neighbourhood of Calgary, Alberta. Available for purchase by the public are a wide variety of texts, printed matter and art objects representing our stable of featured artists from over the years.

This charitable centre for contemporary art was established in 1975 as the Clouds & Water Gallery and Visual Production Society. Today, the Society continues its vision through the operation of two venues – the Main Space, a storefront in Calgary’s Chinatown neighbourhood, and the +15 Window, a shallow vitrine located at the Arts Commons building on a high-traffic pedestrian walkway. These spaces support the research, creation, and exhibition of social and political creative practices from artists at all junctures of their careers, while enabling a public engagement with contemporary art. Our programming comprises a broad range of art and educational activities, including exhibitions, residencies, lectures, and community collaborations that serve to invigorate our audience’s experience of contemporary art and culture.

TNG gratefully acknowledges its location on the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations). Treaty 7 is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
